SnoringScholar.com was an especially fun project for me because it was my first chance to work with responsive design. Writer Sarah Reinhard’s new site will reshape itself to fit the mobile device of whoever’s visiting. We worked together to create a theme that reflects Sarah’s interests – “marriage and motherhood, book talk and rambling remarks, observations and distractions, in the midst of life in rural Ohio on a farm, with kids, critters, and Catholic flair.”

Dappled Things literary magazine invited me to join their board as Web Editor. We redesigned the site to allow for more interaction between readers and contributors and to showcase the art included in each issue. The site automatically features content from past issues every two days, spotlighting the poetry, fiction, and essays from previous years.

Amazing Catechists

Lisa Mladinich wanted a website that would feature the contributions of multiple authors, allow users to submit ideas, and – above all – be easy to use. The new Amazing Catechists site includes tutorial videos to help her columnists learn to customize their own articles, while offering over 450 users the opportunity to interact and share suggestions.

St. Joseph Church

St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plain City, Ohio, needed a website that would welcome new visitors while allowing parishioners to stay updated about events and activities at the parish. We created a site that lets parishioners involved with various organizations submit announcements directly to the site, making it easy for parish staff to keep everyone up to date.

American Karate Institute

Master Ralph Jaschke’s American Karate Institute is the premiere martial arts studio in Victoria, Texas. We created a site that would showcase his students and allow for interactive registration for events, while informing new visitors about what sets his studio apart.

Blogger Hallie Lord wanted a feminine, vintage look for her Betty Beguiles blog and Facebook page. I migrated her site from Blogger to WordPress, created a header, background images, and theme for her personal blog, and integrated them into a Welcome tab for her Facebook page that encouraged visitors to engage with her site.

SoCal Kids San Diego

Blogger Rachel Balducci wanted to move from Blogger to WordPress because of the increased flexibility she’d enjoy in terms of interacting with her readers and updating her site with information about her new book. We decided to incorporate silhouette images of her six children into a custom header image, and I built her site on the Prose theme for the Genesis Framework. I migrated her site from Blogger to WordPress and created a Facebook tab to introduce her readers to her newly redesigned site.

Booked: A Travel Blog

Writer and longtime blogger Amy Welborn wanted to start a new blog with a focus on travel. Working from a header image designed by Elisabeth Engelhart, I created a custom child theme for the Genesis framework using the color scheme and “feel” of the header. The site includes visual features to show visitors the varying topics of her blog, including customized graphics for the titles of individual posts based on their categories. I also created a Facebook welcome tab for Amy to provide her with another means for directing visitors to her new blog.

For my personal blog, I wanted an inviting design that would introduce new visitors to the various resources I have made available through my website. I used two different navigation menus to indicate the variety of content on the site, including downloadable resources and YouTube videos.
I also incorporated multiple contact forms on the site, and created a “Catechist Chat” logo and Facebook page to complement the website.
